The start of summer spells bad news for the UK high street as dozens of bank branches are closing in June.

Four banking giants announced they are closing across UK high streets, which have been blighted by the exodus of shops and businesses in recent years.

NatWest, Lloyds, Halifax and Santander are closing dozens of branches, some of them within days.

Customers who need in-person services might have to travel further away to visit a branch.

Here is a full list of the branches and dates when they are closing.

NatWest told Metro the closures are because of majority of its current account customers use digital services.

A spokesperson said NatWest is investing in its ‘shared solutions like the Post Office and Banking Hubs.’

They said: ‘Digital banking continues to provide new and inclusive ways of allowing the overwhelming majority of our individual and business customers, including the elderly and vulnerable, to bank with us in ways that they weren’t able to before.

‘But we know that a small number of people are not yet comfortable with it, which is why we are proactively reaching out to support them with this transition, having made over 200,000 calls last year. We also have experts that they can speak to for support and guidance.’
